Florals tucked away

Hello my dear blogger friends!  I am super duper stoked to be showing you this outfit because personally, this is probably my favourite outfit so far this year!  I'm so tempted to wear this exact outfit all day everyday!  Wouldn't that just be so much less stressful? :)

The reasons why I love this ensemble so much is because of how well the colours correlate with one another and the different materials incorporated.  Going from the knitted sweater to my studded leggings, this outfit just screams ME.  I love playing around with different styles and patterns and being able to mix them all together.

*Looking at this outfit as I type this, I truly think one day I just woke up and threw on ALL my favourite things to wear in an outfit.  Didn't that work out grand!

So, moving on to the idea behind this outfit, I think it is absolutely adorable and street-style chic for spring transitions is because of how bright and florally it is yet it still keeps me warm during those not-so-amusing colder days.  The floral is there because, um hello, it's spring why would't there be any?  But, it isn't so in your face like: "I woke up like dis and threw on a bright neon floral top cuz i love spring" kind of look.  The fact that I was able the incorporate florals, yet make them minimal in a sense and include it solely as an undergarment, makes me feel pretty good about myself :)

To top that off, throwing on a pair of studding leggings is every girls dreams is it not?  I mean, Hey.  Let's be real, 85.0435% of the female population most likely wears leggings.  Why wouldn't you wanna jazz up your day and wear ones with studs? It's fool proof!

But hey, lets not forget the SHOES. I can you all that these will be my go to shoes for spring.  They really bring their own pizzazz to the table and add so much more personality and dimension to an outfit.  Y'all get me?  I think it's because lately i've really been all about those oxfords!

This outfit just all in all leaves me with a certain "Je ne said quoi".

*oh hi there! if you're reading this, I love you! <3

The beauty behind the Giambattista Valli Spring 2015 Collection

Once again, I have stumbled upon yet another jaw dropping, heads turning, mouth watering fashion designer and icon.  This happens quite often and you can read more about it in the Where would I be without Instagram post.

Giambattista Valli is a name I kept seeing go around and every time I would look at a design that caught my eye, it always happened to be by Valli.  By this time, my body was aching of curiosity, wanting to further expand what I knew about Valli.  His work was intriguing and fresh and I love his work.  Valli, yet another incredible designer to add to my list.  It seems as if my list just never ends.  That's a good thing :)

Let us begin with his Spring 2015 collection.

I noticed how he dabbled around the darker colours still lingering around mixing in with the typical bright pastel floral spring colours.  This is what really caught my eye.

Dating back to big puffy gowns, and slimming down with modern cuts and lengths, Valli  outdid his spring collection. To some extent his designs reminded me of Coco Chanel and her classic little Chanel Jacket tweed with his own take.  Valli played around with the cut and fit of his designs which were youthful and structured in a manner that was flattering and flowy.

I also noticed that while incorporation the ever so typical symbols of spring, flowers, he did so in a manner that was subdued and minimalist is a way.  He played with the colour schemes and made so that the model was a walking piece of art.  His work did not shout SPRING.  It simply floated the idea above our heads.

I applaud Valli for his effortless collection and look forward to the next.

Included in this post are simply the designs from his Spring 2015 collection that caught my eye and were over-the-top necessary to share.

WAIT. OF COURSE I WOULD'T FORGET HIS PREVIOUS COLLECTIONS:)

how i style skirts in the winter

Here's a quick look on how I style skirts in the winter!

Basically a go-to for me would be to layer over a long think cardigan of your choice, a simple long sleeve top, and leggings or tights (which ever one you prefer!)  This is a very simple look yet so chic and elegant.  It allows you to freely wear a skirt when it's -21 degrees celsius! (Trust me i would know!)  Also, definitely feel free to throw on a nice thick coat, which everyone is at you fingertips!

Also, just because it's winter and most of us just want to wear black colours or simple neutral colours, don't be afraid to add a pop of sunshine!

The reason why I chose this particular outfit is because it seems that a lot of people on my Instagram really enjoyed this ensemble!

I hope you guys enjoyed this post as well! Let me know what you guys think! And don't be afraid to comment how you would style skirts in the winter, so that we can inspire each other!

a clean slate and new discovery: Tavi Gevinson

Today I stumbled across a girl that has from the very moment I saw her (before I knew her name) changed the way I see stuff.  She is Tavi Gevinson.  I feel like there's no smooth way of typing that, but it's probably just my writing skills.   But, you probably knew her name cuz it's in the title of this post!

Well, I found her because I was watching Jenn Im's London fashion week video on youtube.  I love Jenn Im (https://www.youtube.com/user/clothesencounters) and she is a huge style icon for me (so if you have yet to here about her go do your self a favour and check her channel out!)  Anyways, if you have ever been on Youtube before, which I'm almost certain you all do, then you probably know about the related videos side bar they have on the right side of your computer screen.  Well, there was a video with a title about a 15 year teen fashion blogger.  This caught me eye, and can I just say I am so grateful I decided to use my brain signals and tell my finger to click on the thumbnail?  BTW if you're wondering what the video was, go check it out for yourself!

Here's a link:

After seeing that video of Tavi getting interviewed, I really did hard core stalk her.  I talking hitting that follow button on Instagram, rewinding her blog all the way to the oldest blogpost, watching countless more of her interviews, going back to her Instagram and hard core scrolling through her feed, following her on Twitter, and google imaging her for fashion inspo.  Ya.  I did all that.
*Inserts celebratory emoji here*

Tavi made me re-realize that fashion isn't about always dressing the trends, or wearing what everyone else at school wears.  It's about trying new styles, finding yourself and expressing your creativity.  And although a long the line, you will probably look back at yourself and ask why on earth did I wear that? It's all a process.  Fashion is always changing and has never settled.  Her style has re-inspired me to wear what I want to wear and wear all these bright colours and patterns and to rock them like no other.

I know, I usually don't post posts like this, but I felt the need and the want to share my find with you guys.

Tavi, you have done us good :)

I only wish I knew her earlier on :)

Also, I'd love it if you guys could comment some of your favourite fashion bloggers that have truly inspired you!

Lots of love,

Double Daring Fringe

Hey Everyone!

Welcome back to yet another post!

Let me start off by saying that it is extremely cold where I live.
-20 degrees celsius to be exact...
That's no fun for anyone, especially when you're trying to take photos for a blog...

So with that being said, if you can't possibly cut it thin with this outfit (literally) then do not fret because I didn't either!  I was actually wearing a huge oversized jacket from forever 21 that kept me as warm as possible.  But, being the forgetful person that I can sometimes be, I forgot to include it in the pictures! My bad!

So enough said! Let's jump right in!

It's winter, I don't think I can help but wear a lot of neutral colours.  It's inevitable.  I found that a great way to spice that up is to incorporate more warm neutral colours in your outfits.  For example, dark reds and browns really compliment nicely.

Now, even though kimonos were really trendy in summer and fall, heck we can still get away with them in the winter!  Just remember to layer up if it's cold!  For me personally, I enjoyed pairing my kimono with a thin knit sweater.  I say "thin" because it won't make the outfit look to bulgy of unflattering. :)

Just strike a pose here and there and you're good to go!

Top: Brandy Melville (Similar one HERE HERE) Kimono: Urban Outfitters (No longer online) Scarf: Forever21 Jeans: Hollister Boots: Aldo Bag: Danier Leather (Old)
